I have been a bit slack, with other things on my mind, but I finally upgraded from Drupal 6.6 to 6.8 and all modules to latest.
This was a rather long update. It took me about 2 hours, doing it the right way.
The only issue I had was with the Image module which gave a fatal error elsewhere (accessing the admin page). This is an alpha released module so I have to accept the problem. A quick search showed me a workaround for the problem. I had to enable ImageMagick, which I did not use previously, within Views module and copy the related .inc file to the includes.
Since the previous beef was about Windows, it seems only fair to turn my head towards Linux.
I had a great weekend trying and succeeding in installing the latest release of Ubuntu Linux distribution. It was a real hit! So much so that after a bit of testing and looking around I decided to try out Linux to replace a Windows installation on one of of the computers I use in my daily work.
I am greatly annoyed with Windows lack of documentation and lack of support.
In the old days, Windoze came with comprehensive documentation. This is no longer true today. But what is worse is he lack of support given by Microsoft. I will say it again: Windows lack documentation, either in printed form, which is probably a good idea for the environment, the forests at least, neither on the install CD, nor even on the net.
If you want to setup an installation of Drupal on your own computer you need three pre-requisites: a web server, MySQL and a server for it and PhP. A good choice is to use Xamp, Wamp or Lamp type install which delivers the
three requirements of Drupal in one install and quite easy to setup. Indeed,
XAMPP for windows installs in its own directory and can be uninstalled by
deleting that directory. There need not be any registry entries to fiddle
with or anything like it..
Idée Inc is a site, that allows you to access millions of flickr photos by choosing the colors you are interested in from a color palette. This is truly a boon for web designers. It also is quite interesting for the idea alone!
I have, of course added the site to the list of weblinks on ZuNOB.com
I am offering a free Drupal CMS site setup to a selected non-profit organization. Free hosting is also a possibility, dependent on resources usage (e-mails accounts, traffic and storage). I am willing to provide twenty to fourty hours of my time at no cost to the organization selected. This should be sufficient to put up a site like this one (ZuNOB.com). The basis of selection will be my interest in the aim of the not for profit entity. I would
