We have all experienced both. In fact we experience them every day. They not only affect the web viewing experience but also the presentation of any GUI based computer application to a user. Command lines application tend to be fluid, but not always.
Well, having a little bit of time on my hands, about a month ago, I decided to start playing with Linux and I installed a dual boot Linux Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop.
This was so easy, and so different from the last time I looked at Linux (15 years ago).
I firstly installed it on a boot-able memory stick, to wet my feet. It was unexpectedly so easy that it only took me an hour or so of playing with that to decide to go ahead with a dual boot installation.
Well what a wonderful experience in wasting time. This morning I started writing a tutorial on Views2 for Drupal. In doing so, I decided to have a quick look at the documentation available. I remembered that when I first started investigating Views I installed the advanced help module as it had some documentation on the Views module. On re-reading that documentation I have come to the conclusion that it is the best documented module for Drupal, certainly of all the modules that I investigated, and that is about 200 of them, far from all available ones, of course.
Today I added an Image rotator to the left sidebar block of this site. I wanted to test how easy it was to do with Drupal as the underlying CMS, or framework, used by this site.
Guess what! It was very easy indeed. It took me less than five minutes to get it operational on the live/production site, this one, itself. Doing it on the live production site rather than on a development shows how confident I was. Granted I had the required modules (Gallery and Views) installed and the needed content (the images) uploaded already. Still, not bad for ease of development!
I would like to introduce two Drupal modules that I think are a must for any site developer using Drupal. These modules are not very popular, especially the second one, yet both offer something that is very useful to any web master.
