About Drupal, Django and GoogleApps

I have been playing with Django lately. I came accross it as I was investigating and doing some development for the "Cloud" using GoogleApps.

This site was developed using Drupal and that was a reasonable choice in terms of speed of web site development and setup, at that time.

However, I now wish I had gone with Django instead. And, no, Drupal and Django are not quite the same things and usually would not be compared. Drupal is a CMS whereas, in very simple terms, Django is more like a framework with which you could develop a CMS. And, Django is much more. It allows applications to run. So, I am keen on using it. The problem is that it will be very difficult to import this Drupal site into a Django site. I may clean up old and trivial posts and bring in, only the more essential parts of the site.

To-date, I have already setup and test developed on Google AppEngine, installed and test developed with Django, both within and without, the Google AppEngine.

I will keep on investigating and hope for a resolution soon.

If this post gets enough interest, I will post more about the Cloud, Django, Google AppEngine etc.

Meanwhile, if you have any experience with this, or advice to give, do not hesitate to post a comment.

Thanks for reading.
