There is no doubt that we have a potential breakthrough in use of the Internet with Google Wave.
Having used the Wave for a few weeks, I am impressed. But my enthusiastic reception is tempered by the fact that things may not pan out the way I expect.
The wave is a more efficient combo of twitter, email and collaboration tool, of that there is no doubt and has been mentioned ad nausea on many reviews of Google Wave. It simply need to achieve critical mass to succeed.
Windows is in the news lately, in a big way. Windows 7 has been released. As I was one of the very disaffected users of Vista, which indeed prompted me to try Linux one more time, I had tried Linux on a number of occasions before, I did make the switch finally, now more than a year ago.
I had been a loyal Window user since the release of Windows 3 (1990) That is a long time ago. In fact having been a software developer since the late sixties I often found myself in the minority of Windows users in large software projects development. I wish I had made the switch sooner.
Why does most, if not all, of the media mentions Obama's "war" on Fox. Surely, it is Fox News, this comedy channel, taking itself so seriously, without humor I might add, by calling itself a "news" channel, that started any "war". Surely, it is the totally biased and somewhat moronic coverage of the current US administration by Fox News that started it all. I mean, Obama didn't point at Fox for its fair coverage. So. lets start by calling it then, in the interest of truth: Fox News war on Obama!
Why do so many, if not all politicians have this most annoying habit of not answering maybe what are difficult questions but nevertheless pertinent or important. They do so by giving an answer that puts forward one their own positions but does not answer the questions asked. Yet, those very same politicians are the one that cannot heap enough praise on democracy and on transparency of government.
Jessica Watson is in the news. Just do a Google search. She is a sixteen year old about to embark on a solo, unaided, non-stop circumnavigation of the world (22,000 nautical miles over an estimated 240 days) in a 10 meter yacht.
Let me wish Jessica Watson a lot of luck. She will need it, even was she not so manifestly lacking the required skills. There is ample evidence that very highly skilled and highly experienced solo sailing seafarers can get into deep trouble and even get killed, as well as jeopardizing other lives, those of their rescuers, in much smaller events than what Jessica is attempting.
Let me say outright that my objections to Jessica attempt has nothing to do with the fact that the sport is dangerous, that lives are likely to be at risk or that she is female. I simply object to children's exploitation. Jessica is sixteen. She is, at
